This is a plaster for prestigious interior decoration, due to it’s particular reflections which can be admired in the satin, semi-shiny or glossy finish.

Marmorino literally means “little marble” in Italian: tiny marble particles are mixed with lime to create a smooth polished plaster finish.

The surface is smooth and lustrous and has gradual movement between light and shade owing to its visible workmanship, which gives it a sense of depth. and reflects the light very well. It is smooth and cold to the touch.

Marmorino can be applied on interior and exterior surfaces and is suitable for decoration of both modern and historic buildings. It has naturally mildew resistant properties and excellent waterproofing and antibacterial qualities making it very desirable for luxury bathrooms and other wet areas. The finish becomes stronger with age.

It  the most versatile of the Italian plasters and can be applied to make many textures, from polished marble to rustic, distressed and natural stone effects such as Travertine. It can be finished to a smooth lustre finish or a marble like appearance and can have a variable degree of lustre depending on how much it has been burnished. The finish can be enhanced with  colour washes.

Marmorino is available in different grain varieties yielding a variety of sheens and decorative effects:

Textured finishes can be further enhanced by the application of a Colourwash. These can achieve an antiqued effect for both interiors and exteriors, characterised by soft and muted hues.

A transparent glaze combined with pure pigment, metallic or pearlescent powder is applied to the plaster, enriching the surface to create a resistant finish, with excellent breathability and good water repellency.

The Colourwashed finish, with its rich tones is ideal for large walls, feature areas and dramatic display backdrops, especially when combined with creative or dramatic lighting.

applying wax onto black lucidato venetian plaster

Applying wax onto black Lucidato plaster

A wax coat adds durability to your finish — highly desirable in kitchen, bathroom or hallway.  Sealing  the finished plaster not only protects it from grease and dirt and makes it water repellent, but also gives a subtle glossy finish.

We use a cold wax that we trowel apply leave to dry for a couple of hours then buff with a polishing machine. Our all natural bees wax gives a lovely shine and smell, and our waterproof wax  does not change the colour of plaster finish and is quickly absorbed into the surface without leaving any traces, leaving a high to medium sheen.

Metallic wax creates depth and shine to the finish. Effects range from a slightly pearlescent look, to an elegant and soft metallic sheen to a high glossy “wow!”.

The wax increases the surface’s waterproofness and also protects it.

Available in a range of Gold, Silver, Bronze, White and Copper to suit your projects’ needs.
