Sealed Flake – Ilumitextra
Interior — walls, ceilings, splash backs & units
This is where most of the decorative work happens, and it is nearly always one wall rather than four. A chimney breast, the wall the television sits on, the run behind a bed, the hall you walk into. One wall carries the whole room, and because it is one wall you can be braver with it than you would be with the lot.
The finishes divide roughly by how much light you want back. Sealed Flake and Crystal Brush throw it — sparkle that moves as you cross the room, and the ones we are asked for most in bedrooms. Venetian plaster and Marmorino hold it: depth and trowel movement rather than shine, which is what a room with a fire in it usually wants.
It does not have to stop at a flat wall. We have run finishes around fire surrounds, over media walls with the television and fire set into them, across ceilings, into porches and up stairwells — anywhere the shape is more interesting than paint deserves.
Ranked by how often we have actually used them here.
The Venetian plaster backdrop to a media wall designed and installed by Get Connected IOM — a warm, mottled panel behind the screen that changes with the light.
Shelves built from scratch and covered in microcement with an aged look — mottled and blotched, closer to old stone than new cement, running the width of a stone-clad feature wall.
A feature wall finished in pure nickel metal — real metal laid on and worked by hand, running across the television recess, the fire beneath it and the open shelved recesses alongside.
Great to be back doing some glitter walls. A bright room at Bradda Head under a vaulted glazed roof on oak beams, the walls done in a fine white glitter that only shows itself where the sun lands.
A single fire breast taken floor to ceiling in our grey plaster with a hint of glitter — restrained enough to read as plain grey until the light moves across it.
A living room wall stripped back to patched plaster, finished in champagne glitter flake — it definitely brightened the room up.
Our Ilumitextra colour blends on the walls of a kitchen and conservatory in Andreas — a hard-wearing, totally washable finish that gives the rooms their wow factor as well.
One wall of a little girl's room in our very glittery pink Ilumitextra — chosen as much for being hard wearing and washable as for the sparkle.
A front porch in Crystal Quartz with gold glitter — sand walls, a bronze sill, and a set of night photographs to show what the flake does once the lanterns come on.
A garden shed in Ramsey sprayed inside — ceiling, walls and floor — with ThermoCork, so a cold timber cabin became a room that can be used all year.
A bedroom in grey and silver glitter with just a touch of holographic — a finish that reads as plain warm grey until the light moves and the colour comes out of it.
A conservatory ceiling sprayed in white with gold flakes to bring the colours of the garden indoors — and the client's old picture frame given the same treatment.
A chimney breast wall taken from bare base coat to a deep bronze and black Ilumitextra — a whole wall of dark sparkle around a stone fireplace.
A lovely pink glitter feature wall in a lucky little girl's bedroom, finished just ready for Christmas — a whole wall of sparkle from skirting to ceiling.
A hallway done in our grey and silver glitter to bring light and space to a now stunning hall — with the cupboard doors and two fire breasts in pure metallic to match.
A full media wall finished in black and bronze textured plaster — recessed fire, flush TV and inset speakers, giving the room an extra wow factor.
Porches always get scuffed and marked — this one got our Ilumitextra full gun metal glitter for a hard-wearing, washable finish with that added WOW factor.
A beautiful porch finished in our pure silver glitter — sparkling around the front door, the window and the crystal light, and definitely adding a WOW factor.
A hallway in Regaby where the dogs were leaving marks on the walls — transformed with glitter flakes under three coats of hard-wearing polyurethane.
Beautiful silver Marmorino feature walls in Craig & Charlie's hall — a bespoke new finish we came up with just for them, and they love it.
A lovely grey glitter feature wall in this stunning bedroom — our glitters giving walls and rooms that something special.
A stunning white glitter feature wall for Dawn — it totally transformed the bedroom and gave them something very special.
