Exteriors & Renders

49 selected projects on the Island

Nearly half our work is outside, and on this Island the outside is the hard part. Wind-driven rain, salt on any elevation within sight of the sea, and old solid walls that were never built to be sealed. The wrong system on a wall like that traps water in it, which is worse than the problem it was meant to fix.

So the choice is a technical one before it is an aesthetic one. Spray cork insulates, breathes, flexes over hairline cracks and resists algae and sea salt naturally — and it will go straight over old pebbledash rather than needing it hacked off. Lime and mineral systems are the breathable route for older and registered buildings. Light weight systems and through-colour renders cover most modern work. Cement render and pebbledash are still the right answer where matching what is already there matters.

It is not only elevations. Chimneys, gables, garden and boundary walls, driveway entrances, conservatory roofs and garage doors are all on this page — and so is a shipping container.
