Marmorino
Interior & Exterior
The argument for plaster in a bathroom is one word: seamless. The finish runs straight up the walls and round the shower tray without a tile edge, a grout line or a strip of sealant anywhere in it. There is nothing to discolour, nothing to scrub and nothing to fail.
It has to be built for the water, and that is a specification rather than a preference. In a wet room we start from the canvas out — backer board, moisture-resistant lining, a floor former with the fall built into it — and finish in MicroCement, walls, floor, shower bench and vanity top in one continuous surface. In a Marmorino bathroom the shower area gets its own treatment: clear breathable sealer, or a waterproof wax over the plaster.
Crystal Quartz is the other one that suits a shower room, being natural stone and very hard wearing. And as in a kitchen, none of this needs the old tiles off — we have refinished a whole bathroom, walls, floor and ceiling, without a single tile coming down.
Ranked by how often we have actually used them here.
Kitchen floor, splashbacks and a feature wall in Crystal Quartz, carried through the utility and W.C. — laid straight over the existing tiles.
Three finishes in one bathroom — metallic silver plaster, a crystal quartz floor, Ilumitextra on the ceiling — all applied over the old tiles.
A fully tiled bathroom given a seamless natural crystal quartz finish — walls, reveals and floor — applied straight over the existing tiles, saving time and mess.
A shower room in Baldrine finished in natural stone crystal quartz with silver glitter — fully seamless, very hard wearing, fitted out with Premier Kitchens Ltd.
Seamless wet room in Douglas finished entirely in MicroCement — walls, floor, bench and vanity top in one continuous waterproof surface. No grout, no joints, nothing to scrub.
A shower area in Monocouche Scratch Render, York Stone — a breathable, polymer-modified silicone-cement render with the look of natural stone.
Ceiling and walls in black Marmorino plaster with a pearlescent wash over the top — that little extra special look for this Peel en-suite.
A bathroom with the smooth, natural look of Tadelakt, achieved in Marmorino Classico over polymer render, finished with two coats of wax.
A feature bathroom wall in sparkling Glitter Flake at The Arches — flakes catch the light for a glamorous, ever-changing shimmer.
First stages of a bathroom in soft grey Marmorino with blockwork joints cut in — next, a couple of coats of beeswax to give it a lovely shine and smell.
Marmorino plaster in this Onchan bathroom — three walls in a white Marmorino with black stencils, and the window wall in a black Marmorino with a stone-coloured stencil.
A stylish banded stone-effect shower area in this period Douglas vicarage — Intona with lighter limestone-style bands.
A bathroom in polished Marmorino Classico in neutral tones: a seamless, water-resistant surface with no grout lines to keep clean.
A modern, seamless en-suite in white Marmorino with shards of gun-metal grey, sealed with waterproof Aqua Lax wax for a cool, bespoke look.
