Bar & Feature Wall, Ocean Views, Onchan Park

A bar top and a feature wall in Ilumitextra, for a new bar at Ocean Views.

Two runs of bar top here — the one with the sink and the taps, and the counter facing out — plus a feature wall taken right across the room. All of it in Ilumitextra black and bronze, supplied by Isle Cork & Specialist Coatings.

The finish is metal flake laid into a black base. Up close it reads as warm gold and bronze scattered over black, and the tone shifts with the light: on the tops it catches the light and glitters, while on the wall it goes much darker and deeper. It is the same material doing both.

Because it goes on as one surface it takes the sink cut-out, runs the length of each bar and carries over the front edge onto the return without a joint. There are shots further down of the tops at base coat stage, plain and pale with everything around them masked off, before any of the flake went near them.
