Microcement Shelves, Douglas

The shelves were made as well as finished.

Shelves made and covered in our Micro cement with an aged look to finish off this lovely feature wall. Two jobs in one, really — build the shelves first, then finish them.

Microcement usually gets picked for a flat, modern look. We went the other way here and aged it. The shelves come out mottled and blotched, closer to old stone than new cement, and no two stretches of them look the same.

They run the width of the wall — across the television, on above the fire, and out onto the plain white plaster at the end, where the squared return shows the thickness.
