Decorative Finishes
Interior
This is the chimney breast in a kitchen, finished in our Ilumitextra glitter blends in grey with holographic glitter added. It runs the full height of the room, up to the shaped top, and round both returns, with a window on either side of it.
The film was taken before the job was finished off, so the masking tape is still on in every shot. That is worth seeing rather than hiding. The tape is what keeps the finish honest against the window frames, the ceiling line and the extractor — the wall is only as good as the edges you cut it to.
Grey on its own would sit flat on a wall this size. The holographic flake stops that happening: from across the room it reads as a grey wall, and then you move, or the light through the windows moves, and there are small points of colour in it. The corner shows it best — one finish on two faces of the same wall, one in shade and one lit, and they do not look like the same material at all.
In a kitchen the practical side matters as much as the look. It is hard wearing and it is totally washable, which is not something you can say about most decorative wall finishes in a room that gets cooked in.
