Great to be back doing some glitter walls.

Glitter usually turns up as one dark feature wall in a corner of a room. This is the other way of doing it — a fine white glitter taken right round a bright room, on every wall, with nothing else competing for attention.

The room is worth looking at on its own. A vaulted glazed roof sits on exposed oak beams, there is a crystal chandelier hung from one of them, and a row of downlights runs along the flat ceiling below.

What that roof does is move the light about all day. The sun comes through the glass at an angle and lays the shadows of the beams straight across the walls, so half the wall is sparkling and the half next to it is not. Step round and it swaps over.

In the shade the finish reads as plain white. You would walk past it and call it a painted wall. Where the sun rakes across it, every flake in it lights up at once.

That is the argument for using glitter this way. It is quiet when the room wants to be quiet, and it does the work when the light arrives.
