Crystal Quartz
Interior & Exterior
We have just finished this kitchen floor, the splashbacks and a feature wall, and carried the same finish on through to the adjoining utility and W.C. All the original tiles were left on, and that is what keeps the mess down. Nothing was lifted off the floor and nothing was chipped off the walls.
The method is straightforward. Our base coat goes on over the tiles first, to take out the grout lines and give us a smooth, flat surface to work on. The Crystal Quartz then goes on over the top of that. The tiles stay exactly where they have always been, and nobody looking at the room afterwards would know they were there.
Here the floor is a light sand colour and it runs the length of the kitchen and straight on through the doorways into the utility and the W.C. Three rooms, one floor. No thresholds, no trims, no change of material where one room becomes the next. The splashback behind the range and the feature wall are in a darker bronze. The W.C. has the same darker colour on the walls, with the sand floor running in beneath it.
What you gain along with the look is a surface with no grout in it. There is nothing to scrub along, nothing to discolour, and nothing for water to work its way into behind the units or round the W.C. Crystal Quartz is a natural stone finish, seamless and hard wearing, and it is available in a lot of colours — which is how one job ends up with two of them and still reads as one job.
