Confederate Cottage, Bride

A lovely little cottage in Bride, brought back to life.

Confederate Cottage was in need of some attention. We first cleaned the stonework, then repointed where needed and applied a slurry coat of Keim Mineral Render. Our decorators finished with two coats of Keim mineral paint.

A slurry coat rather than a render coat is the whole trick here. It is thin enough that the stone courses and the shape of every block still read through the white, so the cottage looks like a whitewashed stone cottage and not like a stone cottage that has been rendered over. Keim's mineral paint is breathable, which matters on solid stone walls with no cavity — the wall can still dry outwards.
