Finished in time for the doors opening.

A little taster of what to expect when we open our doors on the 3rd — that was how Amara Eternally Beautiful put it when they posted these, with a thank you to the boys at Venetian Plaster Company. The salon was on St Paul's Square in Ramsey at the time; they have since moved.

Two different jobs in the one salon. Behind the nail stations the wall carries a fine sparkle through a cream ground, which is exactly what a beauty room wants: it lifts the light without shouting, and it is a sealed, wipeable surface rather than a papered one in a room where varnish and remover get used all day.

The pedicure plinth is the other half of it. That was built in, and we plastered it — the photograph of it going on, taken before any of the furniture arrived, shows it as a plain box being brought to a smooth continuous surface. No joints, no edging strip, and a face that gets mopped rather than replaced.

"A little taster of what to expect when we open our doors on the 3rd. Thanks Derran and Steve from Venetian Plaster Company Isle of Man."
